Grimsby care home Remember the Battle of BritainResidents at HC-One’s Clarendon Hall care home in Humberston have remembered The Battle of Britain and those who were lost during it, with a small event and celebration.

On 15th September, Residents at Clarendon Hall enjoyed a lovely British themed afternoon, after Colleagues set up an event to remember the Battle of Britain.

The Battle of Britain was a military campaign of the Second World War, in which the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy defended the United Kingdom against large-scale attacks by Nazi Germany's air force, the Luftwaffe.

Residents enjoyed a sing a long to songs of the era and wellbeing coordinator Hayley, had a reminisce session with Residents where they discussed war babies and even enjoyed some gentle exercises in time with some music too.

Residents dressed up with union jack hats and waved their flags with pride whilst the homes lounge was decorated in the patriotic red, white and blue.

Toni Yardley, Deputy Home Manager at Clarendon Hall said: “All of our Residents enjoyed singing and waving their flags. It was a lovely afternoon.”
