Ice Cream van visits Whitley Bay care homeSummer is now well under way at HC-One’s Eastbourne House care home in Whitley Bay, as Residents treat themselves to a lovely ice cream from the homes very own ice cream van, as is tradition for people in the seaside town.

Whitley Bay sits on the North East coast and is tradition everywhere around the countries beaches to enjoy a lovely ice cream treat. The Residents were delighted to see so many options of ice cream and toppings, it took them back to their childhoods, having fun on the beach with an ice cream cone and a flake.

“I feel like a kid again, this is a right treat,” beamed Eastbourne House Resident, Beatrice Smith.

Eastbourne House receptionist Kerry Scott and wellbeing coordinator Zoe Payne assisted the Residents in deciding what to have on what was deemed to be a successful day for all and a lovely change from what they would normally do.

Debbie White, Eastbourne House Home Manager said: “Because of the Residents experiencing a bit of the blues with lockdown and they are unable to go out for ice cream we thought it was great for the Residents to still have that fun even though they are inside.”
