Kendal care home Colleagues host pumpkin carving competition for ResidentsColleagues at HC-One’s Summerhill care home in Kendal hosted a pumpkin carving competition for Residents during this years Halloween weekend, with all four units entering.

This year, Colleagues decided to set up their own pumpkin carving competition for Residents, so they bought four pumpkins, one for each unit in the home and let them create whatever they liked.

During the process, Residents enjoyed reminiscing about their own experiences with Halloween and couldn’t wait to be involved with the judging process.

“The entries were good, we have some very creative staff”, said one Resident.

Summerhill’s housekeeping team won first prize with a white jewelled pumpkin, but all the entries were really good and Colleagues in the home are going to make sure that this will now become an annual thing.

Sean Moore, Summerhill’s wellbeing coordinator said: “All the entries were great and it was nice to see a bit of friendly rivalry amongst departments. Housekeeping was this year’s winner with a fantastic white corpse bride style pumpkin.”
