Colleagues and Residents at HC One’s Harley Grange care home, celebrated Diwali this week.
Everyone at the Leicester care home got involved in the celebrations for Diwali.
In the homes craft club, they designed a large poster of Rama and Sita for the Diwali display.
The Residents watched a power-point all about Diwali and realised that their preparation is very similar to the preparation for Christmas.
The Residents and Colleagues ate colourful, Indian sweets which everyone enjoyed trying. They also made greeting cards in the shape of diva lamps.
Residents coloured in rangoli patterns, and learned how they are painted outside the front door to welcome visitors and the goddess of wealth.
Everyone at the home found it interesting learning about Diwali, especially living in Leicester with the greatest community of Hindus and Sikhs living outside India.
The home manager said “"It is great to see the residents learning about other faiths and cultures which in turn leads to a greater understanding of each other.”
