Local Scouts raise funds for Newcastle care homeResidents and team members at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Kenton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne were overwhelmed with the generosity of the West Gosforth Scouts who raised £160 for the home’s Summerhouse Fund.

The local Scouts wanted to help Kirkwood Court raise the funds to create a new summerhouse for Residents and visitors to enjoy in the warmer months. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Scouts were limited in their fundraising options, they decided to host a car wash which raised an amazing total of £160.

The Scouts also wrote letters for the Residents where they talked about themselves and their fundraising efforts, all of the Residents enjoyed reading the letters and loved reading what the Scouts had to say.

Everyone at Kirkwood Court was touched by the thoughtfulness of the West Gosforth Scouts and are looking forward to welcoming the group to the home to see the summerhouse when COVID-19 restrictions are no longer in place.

Kirkwood Court Resident, Lily Ibbotson said: “They are so kind to use their spare time to raise money for our summerhouse, I can’t wait to see it.”

Kirkwood Court Home Manager, Angela Douglass said: “On behalf of all of us at Kirkwood Court I would like to give the West Gosforth Scouts a big thank you for their super fundraising efforts, they are truly appreciated.”
