Local charity brings Wednesbury community together for virtual meet upResidents at HC-One’s Dovedale Court care home, in Wednesbury participated in a virtual meet up with members of their local community organised by charity, Kissing It Better.

Jill Fraser, CEO and Co-Founder of local charity, Kissing It Better arranged a video call for school children, teachers and people living in care homes to come together and share their experiences and feelings during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Students asked Residents from Dovedale Court and other local care homes a variety of questions including, how they are feeling during the pandemic, what advice they would share with the younger generation, what parts of their life would they like to relive.

During the call, Betty, a Resident at Dovedale Court shared her memories of being involved in amateur dramatics and working in a theatre, which prompted a gentleman living in another care home participating in the call to mention that he was also involved in the theatre.

The pair shared more information and soon realised that they had known each other at the time, everyone enjoyed listening to them reminisce about their times together at the theatre.

Betty was delighted with the unexpected reunion and enjoyed chatting with her long-lost friend and other members of the local community.

Dovedale Court Home Manager, Dawn Allen said: “What an amazing idea, thank you so much to Kissing It Better for arranging such a lovely video call which has reunited one of our Residents with an old acquaintance.”
