Local school children lend a helping hand at Newton Aycliffe care homeThree pupils from Woodham Academy are volunteering at HC-One’s Defoe Court care home in Newton Aycliffe as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.

The students reached out to Defoe Court to ask if they could help out as part of their award, the home was happy to accept a helping hand and have got the children involved in helping Resident’s tidy up their garden.

Resident and team members were impressed with the hard work and attention to detail the children displayed when transforming the gardens, they have planted new flowers with different flowers for each Resident’s different preferences and made the gardens look beautiful.

One Resident commented: “I am so happy with the work the children have put into my garden, it looks amazing.”

Defoe Court Home Manager, Sarah Todd said: “We appreciate all of the work the students are doing, the gardens look great and we look forward to seeing them again soon.”
