Mansfield care home holds lockdown exhibition for Residents art workBerry Hill care home in Mansfield was recently turned into an art gallery so Colleagues could exhibit art work from Residents who have been painting during lockdown.

Residents have been working on paintings and other works of art throughout lockdown, so Colleagues thought it would be a good idea to exhibit them at the home’s lockdown exhibition. Paintings, poetry, crafts and other types of art all featured.

Berry Hill Resident, Tony Goody said: “I like painting and its something fun to do.”

The calming nature of painting, writing or other creative pursuits is a way for Residents to forget about larger stresses and promote healthy, happy feelings. Artistic activities can also help reduce stress, but also boost self-esteem and confidence.

Barbara Grime, a Resident at Berry Hill said: “The art and poetry helped me to look at life and relax.”

Residents really enjoyed the day and looking at the artwork and reading poems from other Residents, it was a really nice change from the normal lockdown conditions.
