Two Residents have finally been reunited just in time for Valentine’s Day after spending time apart at HC-One’s Sutherland Court care home in Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Due to tight lockdown restrictions, Alan and Sheila Purvis haven’t seen each other in four weeks and unfortunately missed their 62nd wedding anniversary. The only time they have seen each other is through video chat.
However, Valentine’s Day brought an easing on the care home’s restrictions, so Colleagues at Sutherland Court organised a surprise romantic meal to reunite the couple.
Colleagues invited both Alan and Sheila to the dining room for their usual dinner, but the pair were shocked when they were greeted by one another to enjoy a private romantic meal.
Alan commented: “It was a lovely evening and a total surprise. The best Valentine’s present was seeing my gorgeous wife.”
There were plenty of tears shed as the loving pair were reunited, not just from Alan and Sheila, but from the whole team at the care home.
Sutherland Court Senior Housekeeper, Julie Patterson, said: “It was so lovely seeing them together. I had to keep walking away because the tears kept coming.”
