Model aeroplanes brings out Residents competitive side at Camelon care homeResidents at HC-One’s Kinnaird Manor in Camelon enjoyed an afternoon putting model aeroplanes together, which prompted lots of conversation about war time and holidays.

Kinnaird Manor Residents spent their Monday morning on the 7th September, preparing to put together some model aeroplanes. This prompted Residents to discuss their memories of the war and hearing the sounds of planes flying overhead and how scary that was for them, to holidays they had enjoyed abroad.

Some Residents found it a little fiddly, but Kinnaird Manor Care Assistants were on standby to offer their assistance.

Kinnaird Manor Resident, Andy Smith said: “These are a wee bit fiddly I don't want to break it, maybe we could get a wooden model building kit.”

Colleagues at the home set up a competition to see which plane would fly the furthest. Residents really enjoyed throwing the planes, and they all had a lot of fun laughing together and competing for the furthest throw.

Kinnaird Manor Home Administrator, Louise Owen said: “This is something new for the Residents to try. It’s fun to see how competitive they are.”
