A Resident at Sandon care home, on Tameside, turned 90 today and to mark the special occasion, she was thrilled with a visit from her daughter.
Joan Ahern, celebrated her 90th birthday as well as having the first indoor visit with her daughter, Janet, see pictured.
Joan started the day with a pamper in the home’s salon, then watched a homemade DVD, which all her family and friends had put together, with birthday wishes from family as far as America. She opened her cards and presents and was very happy to have a window visit with her son.
Home Manager, Lynne Campbell, said, “We all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her as she blew the candles out on her cake. Being able to see her son and daughter was the icing on the cake!”
When asked about her birthday, Joan commented, “What a lovely day! I can't thank the staff enough for what they have done for me. They really have made me feel special.”
