Music soothes the soul of Aberdare ResidentDeanna Rosewell, a Resident at HC One’s Meadowlands care home, has been enjoying listening to music.

One of the Aberdare homes younger Residents living with dementia, Deanna, has been having a distressing time and becoming upset. There has been support and help from various Colleagues to help Deanna.

Deanna’s family had been in touch to let the home know something that she really enjoys is music, her favourite band being Fleetwood Mac.

Home manager, Sandra Vernal, purchased a CD player, soft headphones and the best of Fleetwood Mac CD for Deanna to listen to.

When the music was played for her, Deanna's level of distress reduced and she appeared to be humming on occasions to the music.

Her sister had a Zoom call with her later in the day and felt the change in her allowed her to have a better call with Deanna.

Colleagues who have been helping Deanna said they noticed a real positive change in her. It is amazing to see the change and shows the importance of ‘the small things’.
