Musical bingo and toy box tricks at Heaton Moor care homeAt HC-One’s Cheshire residential and nursing care home, Newlands, Residents have been getting involved in many activities this week including bingo with a twist and taking a trip down memory lane with a toy box.

On Thursday, musical bingo took place at the home and Residents Geoff, John, Ivan, Cath, Kath, Mo, Marg, Vera, Pauline and Edith all took part. All played to games and then played 'Name that Tune' which they all loved guessing the song and then singing along.

Marg won the first game and Geoff won the second game, Vera won 'Name that Tune' buy getting 15 out of 2o correct. Each received a prize and everyone got chocolate for taking part.

One Resident said, “My favourite bit was when Edith sings along - she has a lovely voice and knows all the words.”

Rachel, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “Our Residents love musical bingo as we get to sing, as well as use a dabber.”

Today, Residents got the opportunity to reminisce with a box of old toys, pictured. Everyone passed them all around and had a play with each, as well as learning the names of the ‘Bisto Kids’ and how they came about. There was also a dinky car, a musical box, a skipping rope and much more.

This led on to a conversation about favourite toys and things to do when Residents were children. The discussion, with Geoff, Vera, Mo, Marg, Pauline and Cath, involved dolls, bikes and playing at the park, which were the most popular things to do.

“It was innocent fun back then - kids don't have the imagination we had,” one of the Residents remarked.

Rachel added, “Residents loved reminiscing about the hot sunny days paddling and riding their bikes for miles with a jam sandwich and a drink!”
