Newcastle care home RemembersResidents at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Newcastle recently commemorated Remembrance Day with an afternoon full of activities.

Throughout November Residents joined in with a variety of activities to commemorate those who lost their lives in conflict. As Residents were unable to attend services of remembrance, Kirkwood Court created their own.

First, Residents read poems of remembrance and sang hymns to create their own service. This service was then created into a video for all Residents to watch on the 11th. Residents then painted poppies, made wreaths and spoke about individuals’ connections to those who had lost their lives in the war.

“I am so glad we managed to keep the act of remembrance going through these hard times,” said Kirkwood Court Betty Merchant.

Kirkwood Court are incredibly proud to have Tommy who served in the army and even brought in and wore his medals for the remembrance service.

Angela Douglass, Home Manager at Kirkwood Court said: “A moving service and incredibly proud of all our Residents for getting involved.”
