Newcastle care home Resident fulfils Christmas wish of having a snowball fightA Resident at HC-One’s Orchard Mews care home in Newcastle had one simple wish this Christmas, to have a snowball fight, so Colleagues made that wish come true.

Orchard Resident, Jean Denholm, said that all she wanted for Christmas this year was a snowball fight. There wasn't a speck of snow in sight, and none forecast, but a wish is a wish and Colleagues were determined to make it come true.

Jean's son was given the task of finding a snow machine, which he did, amazingly. The scene was set, Santa's sleigh was on display, Reindeer, Christmas lights, Christmas music, all Jean needed was someone to have a snowball fight with.

Another resident, Alan Dixon, very kindly volunteered, and Jean's Christmas wish came true.

Orchard Mews Resident Jean said: “The most fun I've had in ages, made my dream come true, like magic.”

Both Jean and Alan enjoyed a silly snowball fight and it really cheered both Residents up being outside and feeling young again.

“Jean was absolutely delighted that we were able to make her Christmas wish come true. She said it made her feel young and silly,” said Orchard Mews Home Manager, Nicola Coulsen.
