Newcastle care home Residents enjoy a Spooktacular Halloween weekendResidents at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Newcastle enjoyed a Spooktacular Halloween weekend packed full of fun activities, food and freaky costumes.

In the afternoon, Residents played some Halloween themed games, to get in the mood for the day. A mini pumpkin toss was the main attraction with Residents competing against each other to see who was the best.

Wellbeing coordinators, Sarah Strawbridge and Lauren Proctor dressed up and performed a dance to ‘Thriller’ to give Residents some much missed home entertainment. Other staff, who were dressed up in costumes such as scary clowns and zombies, joined in with Residents who were dancing and singing along.

Residents then enjoyed an in-house trick or treat, with Residents going to visit others in their rooms and choosing the sweets they would like out of their pumpkin boxes. This was a real hit with Residents who had lots of laughs and mini frights along the way.

One Resident said: “I’ve loved all the different games we’ve played especially with the light up ghost balloons. I loved watching Sarah and Lauren Dance as well as eating lots of yummy treats.”

It was a real team effort from every at Kirkwood, even Care Assistant Louise organised dressing up and scary Residents from their windows, which they loved, especially after finding out it was Louise under the mask.

Kirkwood Court Home Manager, Angela Douglass said: “It's so lovely to see the smiles and reactions this day of celebrations has brought to all Residents.”
