Newcastle care home celebrates Chinese New YearResidents have been making phenomenal dragon-themed crafts this week to celebrate Chinese New Year over at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Kenton, Newcastle upon Tyne.

This week, the Kirkwood Court arts and crafts club have been inspired by traditional Chinese art. Many chose to draw or colour Chinese dragons while some Residents even crafted their own moving dragon.

One Resident commented: “Isn’t it wonderful to have something to celebrate in these gloomy days? It really has lifted my spirit. Today’s the year of the ox – hopefully this is one to remember!”

All the dining rooms in the home were beautifully decorated with the Residents’ artwork as well as plenty of Chinese-inspired decorations.

After seeing the wonderful dining rooms, Residents tucked into a delicious Chinese buffet for lunch, made by the home’s kitchen Colleagues. They enjoyed chow mein, sesame prawn toast and spring rolls alongside plenty of other Chinese-inspired dishes.

Kirkwood Court Home Manager, Angela Douglass, said: “A really wonderful job done by all Colleagues to ensure everyone had a lovely celebration today.”
