Newton heath Residents whipping up a stormToday Residents at HC-One’s Brookdale View care home, which offers residential and nursing care, got stuck into cupcake decorating.

With everything from fondant icing to edible cake pens, coloured icing tubes to googly eyes, once everyone got the hang of kneading the fondant icing to soften it, they were flying!

Some of the decorations included monster faces and cacti plants which many of the Residents used to design Colleague’s faces onto the cakes, much to their amusement!

The Residents including Audrey Young, June Burke (pictured right), Nancy Kwok (pictured left), Kathleen Lowe and Norma Kemp, really enjoyed getting stuck in and messy with the decorating!

Kathleen commented, “It was nice to do something a bit different.”

Colleague Bethany Child, said, “It was great to see the Residents expressing themselves, and getting really hands on with the decorating.”

“We all agreed that we had fun decorating the cupcakes, and will make it a regular activity at Brookdale! Next time we are going to be decorating cookies!”
