Northumberland care home celebrates Pride MonthPride Month celebrations are underway at HC-One’s Ashington Grange care home in Ashington, Northumberland as Residents and team members show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

An annual celebration each June, Pride Month is held in honour of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, which was a tipping point in the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.

Residents at Ashington Grange have enjoyed some Pride Month arts and crafts, making roses from rainbow issue paper and string. These will be used as part of the decorations for the home’s very own Pride parade which will be hosted at the care home later this month.

Everyone at Ashington Grange has also enjoyed discussions about love and acceptance of people’s differences, one Resident commented: “It’s important that we live in a society where everyone is free to be who they want to be and feel comfortable to love whoever they want.”

Ashington Grange Home Manager said: “It’s lovely to be embracing Pride Month at Ashington Grange, everyone is looking forward to our parade.”

Located on Moorhouse Lane, Ashington Grange care home offers short and long term care to ladies and gentlemen in Northumberland that require residential care, nursing care and memory care for those living with dementia.
