Northwich Mayor Joins Care Home for Harvest Festival Celebrations
Mayor of Northwich, Kevin Rimmer, attended HC-One’s Daneside Court care home, as the home celebrates Harvest Festival on Friday 27th September.

The festival celebrations were opened by Reverend Jane Millinchip of local St Helen’s Church as she held a service in the home, assisted by Andrew Mallin-Jones who played Harvest songs on the piano for Residents to join with. Rev. Millinchip gave a blessing for the celebrations, as well as the Residents and guests at the home.

Cllr Rimmer then conducted a reading from the Bible before engaging with Residents who were enjoying an afternoon tea. He commented on how the smiles on each Residents’ face, makes everything worthwhile. He was joined by Cllr Andy Stott and representative of local Morrisons supermarket, Suzanne Cunliffe, who delivered food hampers to the home, alongside fresh fruit and vegetables.

The food hampers, alongside donations from Relatives and members of the local community were then kindly collected by Lee Mackenzie of Helping Hands – Northwich in Need, who went on to deliver the donations to ‘Cheshire without Abuse’, an organisation which supports families affected by domestive abuse, mental illness and/or substance misuse.

Lee commented: “It is great that one group of people are able to help another in need. Northwich in Need and Cheshire without Abuse give their thanks to Morrisons and all those who kindly donated.”

To end the celebrations nicely, children from local primary schools attended the home to present homemade cakes to the Residents, after hosting their own McMillan coffee mornings. The children performed Harvest songs for all to enjoy, with Residents remarking on how lovely the day had been.

Joanne Farrell, Home Manager, commented: “We have had such a wonderful day. The event was so well attended and everyone enjoyed the Harvest service, it was wonderful to see how happy the Residents were to hear the school children sing. The hard work and dedication that was given by Colleagues who planned the event, was amazing. Everyone, as always, has worked wonderfully as a team.”
