Nottingham care home set up a knitting clubResidents at HC One’s Silverwood care home have started their very own knitting club.

At the Nottingham care home you will find the knitting club, which meet twice a week to enjoy their favourite past time.

Knitting is a really enjoyable activity which many of the Residents enjoy. Being able to just pick up the knitting needles and have a little knit and a chat too is so relaxing and fun.

Selina the home’s wellbeing coordinator has just learnt recently how to knit and now really appreciates the magic of knitting now. Selina was very grateful to Pauline, one of Silverwood’s housekeepers who patiently taught her how to knit.

Many of the Residents have told Selina of how they had to knit jumpers for their children, and also make blankets to keep the little children warm throughout the winter months, especially just after the war when life was quite precarious and heating was quite expensive.

More and more Residents are getting involved in the club, and everyone is going to help with knitting a blanket for a charity.

One of the Residents commented “I want to know again, it’s lovely to knit.”

Colleagues have been helping take photos to send to the Residents Relatives to show them what their loved ones have been getting up too.
