Perfect poetry planning at PennwoodThe poetry club at HC-One’s Pennwood Lodge residential and nursing memory care home, in Gloucestershire, has got off to a great start with some very enthusiastic Residents reciting beautiful words.

Wellbeing Coordinator, Julie, held a Residents meeting in March and some individuals requested to have a poetry club.

The club is now set up and members meet every other Wednesday and write various themed poems together. So far, they have written about Alice in Wonderland, Spring and the Queen's birthday.

Whilst at Poetry club everyone enjoys planning their next poem whilst having tea, coffee and cake.

Thelma, an avid member, says that she enjoys reading the poems at the monthly video calls with fellow care homes in the area and feels very proud when writing the poems.

Fellow Resident, Ruth, enjoys reciting traditional poems and meeting up for a coffee, cake and chat.

Julie commented, “It was really nice to see the Residents making the structure to their poem and laughing at some of the rhymes being said. I am very proud to hear the wonderful poems coming from the Residents.”
