Pontefract care home Residents challenge themselves with a jigsaw puzzleResidents at HC-One’s Priory Gardens care home in Pontefract have been putting their minds to the task of completing a jigsaw puzzle.

Jigsaw puzzles present a cognitive exercise that also provides therapeutic value as well as been shown to improve memory and brain function, including those suffering from Alzheimer's and dementia.

Residents enjoyed completing the jigsaws and found it both relaxing and that it brought a great sense of achievement when they finally completed it.

One Priory Gardens Resident said: “I loved the jigsaw, it was very rewarding. Thank you to the staff for encouraging me.”

The Priory Gardens team created a relaxing atmosphere to help Residents concentrate and the afternoon went down as a great success.
