Pontefract care home Residents meet their new therapy dogResidents enjoyed a visit from a new furry friend as therapy dog-in-training Cooper visited HC-One’s Priory Gardens care home in Pontefract for the first time.

Each Resident had the opportunity to meet Cooper and have a little cuddle as he began to get used to the new surroundings and the Residents.

One Resident commented: “What a beautiful dog! I think we’d like to keep Cooper forever.”

Cooper’s visit to Priory Gardens spread happiness throughout the home. It was just the first of many visits and he will be a regular face to the Residents as he continues his training as a certified therapy dog.

It was an opportunity for the Residents to start getting to know him and, for many, brought back memories of the pet dogs they had kept throughout their lives.

Priory Gardens Home Manager, Allison Gill, said: “It was heart warming to see all the smiles on Residents’ faces.”
