Pontefract care home Residents reminisce about old sweets and treatsResidents at HC-One’s Priory Gardens care home in Pontefract enjoyed a creative cookie decorating session, creating some scrumptious treats for everyone in the home.

Residents from the homes Harmony suite enjoyed the Pontefract theme and Pontefract cake decorating. Pontefract cakes are a type of small, roughly circular black sweet made of liquorice, originally manufactured in the Yorkshire town of Pontefract, England.

Pontefract cakes bring back many memories for Residents who come from the local area, and allowed Residents to reminisce about their childhoods and going to the shop to pick up some sweets.

Priory Gardens Home Manager Sarah Hudson said: “It is always wonderful to see Residents enjoying themselves and remembering past visits to the local area.”
