Project pumpkin scare fest at Manchester care homeColleagues and Residents at HC One’s Averill House were getting into the Halloween spirit this October.

The Manchester care home decided that this year for Halloween they wanted to make some big display pieces for the main entrance foyer.

The home decided on a giant pumpkin, a Halloween tree, a zombie and also a spider to fit the theme which was ‘pumpkin scare-fest’.

The Residents on the residential memory care floor really wanted to go all out, so spent the last few week’s crafts club sessions using paper mache, glitter and paints to make some wonderful Halloween creations.

The Residents have really enjoyed the theme and the activity, they have even named the zombie Fred and the spider Sydney which has caused a few laughs!

Jodie Yates, the homes wellbeing coordinator, has lots more craft activities planned in around Halloween week and also themed baking sessions to make scary pumpkins cupcakes.

The home will also be holding a Halloween themed party on both memory care floors separately for the Residents, and a mobile Halloween trolley to visit the individual rooms. There will also be themed activity packs plus a ‘best dressed award’ on the day for Residents.
