Residents blend fruit smoothies at Tameside care homeResidents have been making their own delicious smoothies today at HC-One’s The Sycamores care home in Hyde, Greater Manchester.

Everyone enjoyed deciding on their own fruit combinations before peeling and chopping them up and popping them into a jug with a dash of milk and a few scoops of ice cream.

Residents then watched in fascination as Colleagues used a hand blender to mix the fruit up before pouring the finished result into a glass with a fun straw.

Many Residents had never made nor tried a smoothie before so it was an excellent way for them to try something new, different and healthy.

One Resident commented: “I’ve never had one of these before but I’m looking forwards to trying them again.”

As they peeled and chopped their favourite fruits, many Residents reminisced over the time they used to spend cooking and baking at home.

The Sycamores Home Manager, Carol Potts, said: “It’s great to see our Residents getting involved with activities that encourage their independence.

“This is also a similar activity to what they would do in the comfort of their own homes.”
