Residents demonstrate commitment to wildlife at Shelton Lock care homeShelton Lock care home in Derby has proven its commitment to caring for the environment as Residents created bird feeders for their feathered friends.

Many Residents at Shelton Lock love bird-watching in the home’s garden, so Colleagues arranged for Residents to make bird feeders to encourage more feathered friends into the garden.

Residents got to work on creating fat balls for the birds to enjoy, which contained lots of tasty seeds for birds to eat.

Colleagues have since hung the bird feeders around the garden, with Residents eagerly looking out for birds visiting the home from their lounges and bedrooms.

Molly, a Resident at Shelton Lock, said: “I think the birds will enjoy the fat balls as they have lots of different seeds in them!”

Since the success of the bird feeders, Residents are already thinking of ways to look out for other wildlife in the garden, with Ros suggesting monkey nuts for the squirrels.
