HC-One’s Silverwood care home in Rotherham announced the winner of the home’s annual sunflower growing competition on Thursday 10th October.
All of the Residents planted seeds at the beginning of summer and nurtured their sunflower until they were ready to be planted in the home’s garden. Keen gardener, Richard was proud when he was presented with a certificate stating he is the winner of the 2019 sunflower competition.
Everyone has enjoyed watching the flowers bloom and are now busy drying out some of the sunflowers to harvest the seeds for next year’s competition.
One Resident commented: “I really enjoyed taking part in the friendly competition and I was delighted for Richard when he was announced as the winner.”
Carrie Ann Davies, Home Manager at Silverwood, said: “The sunflower competition is always a highlight in our yearly calendar for both Residents and team members, we all enjoy watching the flowers grow and bringing some more colour to our garden.”
