Special Skype moments for Stockport care home ResidentsRashid, a Resident at HC One’s Appleton Manor care home, got to Skype his daughter, who recently got married, today.

Due to lock down restrictions which are still ongoing, Residents are unable to see their families as they normally would, so the staff at the Stockport home set up a special Skype call for Resident Rashid.

The Colleagues phoned up Rashid's daughter who had just got married on Sunday, who was now spending time in Dubai on her honeymoon.

It was so lovely to see the look on Rashid’s face to see his daughter and hear all about the wedding. It is so hard for families to miss such special occasions like this, but is great to be able to video call and see each other’s faces to share stories and explain in detail.

Another Resident, Avril, called both of her daughters too, one of which was on her holiday and one who was at home. Brenda, Pam and Doreen spent time video calling with their daughters’ as well.

One Resident was even able to get to speak with her lovely dog on the video call too!

All the families were very grateful for the video calls. Each and every one were telling their family member how much they missed them and how they cannot wait for things to get back to how they were.

You can see from the screenshots the emotion in everybody’s faces. It is so difficult living within these unprecedented times, however technology has been an immensely useful tool in helping keep families as connected as possible.

It is incredible for Colleagues at the home to get to witness and share these special moments with Residents and Relatives too, and cannot wait to share times again when things are ‘normal’.
