Stevenage care home Residents learn about their local historyColleagues at HC-One’s Woodlands View care home in Stevenage sat Residents down one afternoon and they discussed the areas local history, digging out old photos and articles from the past to reminisce with Residents.

On May 7th Colleagues sat down with Residents, where everyone discussed the history of Stevenage, sharing photographs of the history of Stevenage New Town.

Resident Jean Riordan knew the road names and landmarks and Resident Ann Bird said she was a teenager when she arrived from Ireland and can remember it vividly when she first came across saying,” it was nice and green like Ireland.”

The history around the Parish Church at St Nicholas was very interesting to look at. For some Colleagues and Residents who aren’t originally from Stevenage, they found it lovely for Residents to tell them their memories of the area, from Ann going to the local dance to Jean liking the shops.

“I really enjoyed looking at the photos, it brought back lots of nice memories,” said Ann Bird.

Located in Poplars, just three miles from Stevenage town centre, Woodlands View is a friendly care home with 120 beds, offering residential, nursing and nursing dementia care.
