Stevenage care home documents special sunflowerA Resident at Woodlands View home, Located on Magpie Crescent, has been tending to her very special sunflower planted in the garden, but what makes this plant so special?

Resident Jean Riordan had been waiting patiently and tending to her "special" sunflower, which were planted early in the summertime by Residents.

Each month the Residents have been watching and documenting their flower’s progress to see which sunflower will be the tallest – it has become quite the competition between everyone.

Jean decided the reason her sunflower was so special was because it was the perfect size for her to copy and paint onto a canvas. Jean has a love for sunflowers and painted this sunny picture (see picture) for her to display in her room.

Home Manager, Deby O'Hare, commented, “The Residents have enjoyed planting this summer and bringing life to their garden.”
