Stockton on Tees care home RemembersResidents at HC-One’s Victoria House in Stockton on Tees

Due to the current restrictions in place in relation to coronavirus, this year’s Remembrance Celebrations took place in a slightly different format this year.

We had our Union Jack bunting up along the corridors and we made poppy decorations including wreaths. Staff and Residents also observed the two minutes silence on the Wednesday and watched the service on television.

“I was remembering my dad today and I really enjoyed making the poppy wreaths,” said one Resident.

Victoria House Home Manager Sarah Dodsworth said: “It was lovely to see the interaction of the residents with the service, joining in with the hymns.”

Remembrance Day is a Memorial Day observed in Commonwealth member states. Remembrance Day has been observed since the end of the First World War to remember armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.
