Stornoway care home Residents receive 2nd dose vaccinationsOn Tuesday 2nd February 2021, Blar Buidhe care home in Stornoway became the first HC-One home to have Residents vaccinated with the 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccination.

The NHS Western Isles Vaccination Team, supported by Blar Buidhe Nurse, Christine Wightman, very efficiently and effectively ran an in-house clinic enabling Blar Buidhe Residents to receive this vital part of the ongoing fight against the coronavirus.

Families and friends of Residents are delighted to learn that their loved ones in Blar Buidhes care have had both doses of the vaccine with the protection that the second vaccination offers.

A Blar Buidhe Resident’s daughter said: “I am so pleased my Dad is getting the vaccine, he looks quite happy with it.”

“Thank you to all the staff and team members.”

The second coronavirus vaccine jab offers much more protection than the first, making Blar Buidhe one of the most coronavirus secure HC-One homes and what an accolade to have during this ongoing fight against the virus.

Blar Buidhe Home Manager Donald McIntosh said: “We are so pleased to be in this position. I would like to express my thanks on behalf of the home to NHS Western Isles for their efficiency in delivering the vaccination program across our islands and in our home.”

“It’s very comforting to know that we are as protected as we can be.”
