Surprise birthday and poppy making for Himley Mill ResidentsWhen one of the Residents at Himley Mill care home in Dudley, West Midlands, turned a very special milestone birthday, Colleagues and fellow Residents wanted to do something special.

Home Colleagues Jane Clarkson and Sue Burns got some Residents in the lounge on 29th October, and surprised Resident Trevor Williams who celebrated turning 65. Trevor was greeted with an entourage singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him which he really enjoyed. Then everyone had a slice of cake with their afternoon tea.

The surprise on Trevor’s face was simply wonderful!

Home Manager, Kelly Smith, commented, “It was lovely to see Trevor encouraged by staff and socialising in the lounge. What a great job staff have done!”

Also, this week, Residents have been making poppies for Remembrance Sunday. Today Residents enjoyed having a cuppa and a chat while sitting and making some paper poppies which will be displayed around the home’s poppy tree. Sue organised the enjoyable afternoon and said, “Residents enjoyed the cutting out and making the poppies, then sewing them together.”

Kelly added, “It’s wonderful to see the Residents engaging in activities.”
