Sussex Residents enjoy World Read Aloud Day activitiesResidents have been taking part in lots of book-related activities today as part of World Read Aloud Day over at HC-One’s Oakhill care home in Horsham.

Residents gathered in the lounge area or enjoyed one-to-one time with Colleagues to take part in the event.

Residents and Wellbeing Coordinators both read aloud from their favourite fiction and non-fiction books and magazines, including the famous Oakhill Times.

The day was an excellent way for Residents to reminisce and open up about their favourite books and authors, dating back from their childhood up until their current reads.

Oakhill Home Manager, Shaun Matthews, commented: “This was a great opportunity to reminisce over childhood stories like Winnie the Pooh, something that is especially important for Residents suffering from dementia.

They also had the chance to engage with more up-to-date poetry.”
