Swallownest care home catering team achieve top awardThe catering team at Swallownest residential and nursing care home, in Sheffield, have been very proud to receive the highest award available in their recent food safety inspection of five stars.

Joan Risley, Kitchen Manager and Tracy Boardman, Cook, supported the unannounced inspection by the councils Environmental Health Officer and were very pleased that their teams hard work and commitment to their home was recognised. 

Joan and Tracy are further supported by Kitchen Assistants Diane Buckley, James Fletcher, Blake Azoug, Dave Riley and Georgia Hosford

Since the start of the pandemic, workloads have increased for all Colleagues and this included that of the kitchen team who delivered staff meals to support the coronavirus prevention and protection plans.

The team commented, “Our workload has obviously increased but we are extremely proud that our high standards have remained to the five star standards.”

Chris Parker, who is a Resident at Swallownest care home, said, “The team work so hard to look after us, they go above and beyond to make sure I have things I love to eat. I am spoilt!”

The team even bake everyone a Resident a birthday cake in addition to baking fresh cakes or buns for the daily afternoon tea trollies.

Amanda Fields, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Thank you to our catering team for their hard work, I am extremely proud that this has been acknowledged formally in their five star award.”
