Tameside care home Residents taste test Scottish treats for Burns NightResidents at HC-One’s The Beeches care home in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester spent their Burns Night trying out different Scottish delicacies.

Residents spent the morning enjoying sweet treats as well as Irn Bru; a first time for many Residents which gathered very mixed reactions.

Kath, a Resident at The Beeches, said: “I enjoyed this morning. I’m not so sure on the Irn Bru but the fudge was beautiful.”

Colleagues told Residents the story of Robert Burns and read many of his poems.

Home Resident, Phyllis, commented: “It was interesting to hear the background story of Robbie Burns as I learned something new. The treats were lovely as well.”

Residents enjoyed their morning getting to know the life and times of a Scottish icon and taste testing fudge, tea cakes and biscuits from the country.

Sade, a Colleague at The Beeches, said: “Today has been lovely. Everyone enjoyed the Scottish treats and drinks, the lovely music and the choice of poems.

“It was nice as well that Residents who haven’t celebrated Burns Night before joined in and found out things that they didn’t know.”
