Thamesfield Resident paints pet portraitsEvery Tuesday morning at Thamesfield care home, in Oxfordshire, the have their very popular watercolours class. 

Resident Mrs Earl, who attends the class, was looking for a subject to paint, A Colleague at Thamesfield, Grace, showed her a picture of her cat Dongkie. Mrs Earl decided to give it a go, she had never painted animals before. 

Grace was thrilled with the finished picture and when other members of the team popped in to see the picture they asked Mrs Earl if she would kindly paint their pets. 

Now a few weeks on Mrs Earl has painted admin member Carole’s dog Frankie, Jackie, waitress’ new rescue dog Riley and has just started Karina as well as Clinical Lead’s dog Ringo. 

Mrs Earl is now called ‘Artist in Residence’ and has thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. She really is very talented and the team are thrilled with their paintings.

“Wow! Great painting,” said one of the other Residents.

Another added, “Wonderful paintings Mrs Earl you are so talented.”

Mrs Earl has really enjoyed the challenge and has been delighted to give something back to the hardworking Colleagues at Thamesfield.

Lina Nela, Home Manager, added, “It has been great to see Mrs Earl learn a new skill, she has really captured the character of all the pets.”
