The Orchards mark Remembrance DayToday, Shard End care home, The Orchards, celebrated Remembrance Day.

Colleagues organised a traditional English afternoon tea and Residents listened to all their favourite songs from during the war.

Everyone took it in turns telling their stories about different memories during that time. They discussed how old they all were and how it affected their families.

One Resident, Joan Kirby, sang some beautiful songs from Vera Lynn for everyone, which they all really loved.

Residents and Colleagues alike, sang, laughed and danced all afternoon; it was thoroughly enjoyable for everyone involved.  They loved listening to Joan singing and enjoyed some yummy English cakes

Colleagues Connie and Keleigh hosted. All other staff took it in turns joining in.

Another Resident, Iain commented that it was lovely to hear the stories about the war.

Keith, who also lives at The Orchards, remarked that he wasn't alive during the war but loved hearing everyone’s heart-warming stories about their families.

Home Manager, Simon Barnett, commented, “What a fantastic day with everybody. It's lovely to see everybody laughing and chatting together.”
