The gift of music at Uddingston care homeResident’s were given the gift of music at HC-One’s Highgate care home in Uddingston, Glasgow from a special charity, Purple Angels.

Purple Angel is a dementia charity that formed in 2012 with the aim of making Torbay in Devon the first Dementia Friday resort in the country. The charity now supports people throughout the UK who are living with or supporting someone living with dementia.

During the covid-19 pandemic, the charity started offering to provide MP3 players for people living with dementia with their very own personalised playlist of their favourite music.

Janine, Wellbeing Coordinator at Highgate spoke with five Residents to create their very own perfect playlists which she shared with Purple Angel. Soon after, each Residents was surprised with their very own MP3 player filled with the music that they love.

The music has brought back happy memories for the Residents, with one Resident commenting: “I love that I can listen to my favourite music whenever I want, thank you so much.”

Highgate General Manager, Charlene Curtis said: “Well done to Janine for organising such a thoughtful gift for our Residents and thank you to Purple Angels for creating these personalised MP3s.”

Located Old Edinburgh Road, Highgate care home offers short and long term care packages for older ladies and gentlemen that require nursing care and nursing memory care for those living with dementia.
