Tipton care home celebrates anniversary, birthday and Remembrance
At Waterside care home in Tipton, West Midlands, there has been plenty going on this week in terms of celebrations for Residents and Colleagues alike.

Firstly, it was Resident Dorothy ‘Dot’ Poutney's 93rd birthday on Monday 16th November (see pictured bottom left). Dot had plenty of cards and presents. They decided to have a ‘Dot's Bingo Birthday Bash’ as Dot thoroughly enjoys a game of bingo, and the other Residents also joined in to make the day special.

Dot would like to thank June and Gill, the activities coordinators at Waterside, for arranging it to make her birthday special.

The home’s Colleagues were also pleased to join Residents Dorothy ‘Dot’ and Edward ‘Ted’ Burrows as they marked their 60th Wedding Anniversary

Dot and Ted celebrated their anniversary. Even though Ted was poorly, everyone all tried the best they could to make the day special. Dot spent time with Ted throughout the day. Flowers, gifts, and cards were sent by family and friends (see pictured bottom right). Dot's favourite card was the one they received from the Queen. Sadly, Ted passed away three days later. Dot was very happy to spend quality time with her husband.

Fellow Resident June said it was lovely to see them together

Everyone at the home also marked Remembrance Day by talking about war time stories, having a sing-along and simulating ration packs.

Residents have taken great pride in their arts and crafts such as making Remembrance crosses, wreaths and heart poppies.

June and Gill said that it was a, “Bittersweet day for the Residents as they remember the fallen and the hard times they endured.”
