Wakefield care home knitting group helps to stitch the community togetherResidents at HC-One’s Snapethorpe Hall care home in Lupset are taking part in a community-wide knitting project to bring groups in the local area together.

During the home’s monthly ‘knit and a natter’ group, Residents and Colleagues accepted a challenge from a local crafting group to join them in the creation of a knitted link chain.

Similar to a paper chain, each link will be joined together and will be used to decorate The Ridings shopping centre in Wakefield. The project is not just ornamental, it represents the joining together of different groups in the area during these difficult times.

One Resident commented: “Lovely idea, it’s good to be involved in a project like this. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished pieces.”

The ladies at Snapethorpe Hall are now busy creating their very own chain links that will bring them closer to the other groups in the community for this year-long project.

The Snapethorpe Knitting Group is thrilled to be involved in such a thoughtful project and are looking forward to seeing the completed chain once it is on display in The Ridings shopping centre.

Snapethorpe Hall Home Manager, Julia Davison, said: “We’re always really keen to get involved in community projects here. This is just the first of many to come with the crafting groups in our local community.”
