Walsall care home Residents enjoy an April full of funResidents at HC-One’s Ash Grove care home in Walsall have enjoyed an April full of fun, celebrating key dates such as Easter Sunday and enjoying a garden party in the sun.

On 1st April, after lunch, Residents went outside into the homes beautiful garden, where they played basketball, listened to music and enjoyed some cold drinks in the sun, such as lemonade floats and a glass of beer, which was enjoyed by all.

The Residents also enjoyed playing an outdoor version of Ludo which brought a lot of smiles and laughter to their faces, as it brought out their competitive side.

Ash Grange Home Manager Anita Horton said: “It was nice to see the Residents enjoy a bit of sun and fresh air in the garden as they have been in isolation for a long time.”

On April 4th and throughout the full weekend, Residents and Colleagues celebrated Easter together, with lots of activity and chocolate treats.

The Residents started their Easter Sunday Celebrations off by getting a bag of sweet treats which contained Malteser bunnies, lint eggs and smarties eggs and other chocolates.

Residents then enjoyed their Easter lunch of Roast Beef and Gammon with vegetables, roast potatoes and gravy and for dessert they enjoyed a slice of Easter cake, which was kindly donated and made by a lady in the community.

To end the day's celebrations, Residents enjoyed parading their Easter bonnets for the Easter bonnet competition which was judged by Nursing Assistant Zoe who voted that the best Easter bonnet was by Keith Gull, where he won a lint bunny and was full of smiles.

On April 8th, to highlight the Residents strength and determination that they have shown through COVID, Colleagues handed Residents their very own ‘Resident of the Month’ award.

Colleagues felt it was important that Residents were recognized for their strength as many of them had lost their friends. The Residents enjoyed receiving their awards and were full of smiles and willing to have their photos taken.

Ash Grange Home Manager Anita Horton said: “Each of our residents deserve more than a certificate to highlight their strength and determination getting through the COVID outbreak within the home. It really was a delight to see them smile and have their photos taken with the certificate.”

Ash Grange is a purpose-built care home located in a residential area of Bloxwich, near Walsall, providing nursing, residential and end of life care.
