Warrington home receive letters from local secondary schoolThis year has been such a difficult year for all care home Residents across the country, as they are needing to cope with not being able to see their families as often as they would like. So, pupils at the local secondary school have reached out to Residents at Birch Court care home, in Cheshire.

During such difficult circumstances it can be easy to feel as if nobody knows what you are going though, with this in mind it was wonderful to receive a call from Birchwood High School.

The Year 10 and 11 pupils have been thinking about how this year has impacted on the older generation, particularly those in care homes. The Deputy Head said that the students have been trying to empathise and reflecting on their own experiences of not being able to see their grandparents; the students really wanted to do something practical to help and to let the Residents at Birch Court know that they are not forgotten, especially at Christmas time.

The students have all wrote letters to the Residents, sharing their thoughts and feelings as well as their news.

Kerry Winstanley, Home Manager, said, “It will be lovely for Residents to hear some news from outside the home after such a long year. I think it is important to remember that this year has been tough on our young people too, and it is very kind of them to think of our ladies and gents.”

“There has never been a more important time to keep the community links open.”
