Westquarter care home leave treats outside for local children during Halloween sponsored walkResidents at HC-One’s Barleystone Court in Westquarter kindly left some sweets out in front of the home this Halloween weekend, for local trick or treaters to chose from when they pass by.

The home has always had great links with the local community so when coronavirus restrictions meant that the children could not go around the doors for Halloween the local children needed another way to celebrate.

Barleystone Care Assistant Shannon Donnelly and her friend Laura who previously worked as a wellbeing coordinator at Barleystone came up with the idea of a socially distanced sponsored walk to raise funds for the comfort fund.

Colleagues arranged for some Residents to be at the lounge windows to see the children in their costumes walking past the home and in order to comply with current restrictions we left a pumpkin with lollies on the wall for them to help themselves. They had a great turnout despite the horrific weather.

One Resident said: “Seeing the children walking past and waving from the street with their costumes and glow sticks was so lovely.”

Morag, the homes wellbeing coordinator said: “it was lovely to see so many kids braving the weather to raise funds for Barleystone's Residents.
