Wigan care home alive with the sound of musicHC-One’s Westwood Lodge care home in Wigan was alive with the sound of music this December when the team hosted a special Christmas carol service for Residents.

The team at Westwood Lodge wanted to spread some festive cheer in the home and decided to arrange a Christmas carol service for Residents to enjoy. Usually a carol service would be hosted in the home by members of the local community, but COVID-19 restrictions meant that the team had to warm up their vocal chords and put on a festive service for Residents.

Residents gathered to listen to the team perform a set of traditional carols, including ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’, ‘Deck the Halls’, ‘Silent Night’, ‘Oh Little Town of Bethlehem’ and ‘Joy to the World’. Everyone got into the spirit during the service, singing along to their favourite carols and finishing the service with a big round of applause.

Mavis Farrell, a Resident at Westwood Lodge commented: “I cried happy tears, I haven’t heard that song since I was a little girl.”

Westwood Lodge Home Manager, Lorraine Young, said: “It was lovely to see Residents enjoying the service, although it is a difficult year for everyone we are dedicated to keeping the festive spirit alive at Westwood Lodge.”
