Wigan care home welcomes primary school visitResidents and Colleagues at HC-One’s Westwood Lodge care home were delighted as they received a visit from a group of local primary school children.

The Residents and children enjoyed a reading session together before taking part in a variety of activities together, with the favourite being a game of dominoes.

The children enjoyed themselves as they made friends with each of the Residents, practicing their reading skills and chatting about the Residents’ lives.

The visit was so successful that the children are hoping to visit the home again to take part in pumpkin carving alongside the Residents.

Lorraine Young, Home Manager, commented: “The Residents and children have enjoyed themselves this afternoon, it is so refreshing to welcome the school children into our home and watch them interact with Residents. It has been extra special for Resident Alice, who once worked as a teaching assistant, as she found it so interesting to be able to sit and read alongside the children again.”
