Wigston care home Residents write back to Pen PalsResidents at HC-One’s Magna care home in Wigston received some lovely messages from their pen pals in Victoria Park care home.

Sandra, 72 and Barbara, 85 are Residents at Victoria Park in Coventry and decided to write to Magna, to start off the pen pal connection between the two homes during this tough time.

Georgie Bailey, Magna wellbeing coordinator, decided to ask Mavis Driver and Betty Markham who reside in Magna care home if they wanted to write back. Mavis and Betty both read the letters and were thrilled with that they had put and both happily agreed that it would be a lovely idea to communicate with Victoria Park.

They enjoyed decorating their Pen Pal Cards and look forward to receiving a reply. They both said that it was a very nice idea and it would keep them busy thinking what to write for next time.

“It is really lovely to receive Pen Pal Cards from another HC-One Care Home. We are really looking forward to our replies,” said Magna care home Resident, Mavis Driver.

Creating letters and communicating with other Residents is a great way to keep the mind stimulated. Social interaction and creative activities can really help with Residents mental wellbeing.

Magna Home Manager, Chipo Mupunga said: “It is great to see them writing and decorating.”
