Residents, colleagues, friends, and families at HC-One’s Ashworth Grange Care Home in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, have come together once again to spread festive cheer, this time through a special Christmas Jam Jar Collection in support of the Dewsbury Cares Community Group.
The initiative, which began on 1st October and will continue until the end of November, aims to collect over 200 jam jars to be transformed into thoughtful Christmas gifts filled with vegan and vegetarian sweets. These festive jars will be donated to Dewsbury Cares Community Group for their Free Community Christmas Dinner, held on Christmas Day at Long Causeway Church, Dewsbury.
The annual Christmas Day event provides a warm and welcoming space for local residents to enjoy a delicious lunch, receive gifts from Santa, and take part in festive entertainment, ensuring no one in the community spends Christmas alone.
Ashworth Grange is inviting the wider community to join in the spirit of giving by donating clean, empty jam jars directly to the home. Every contribution helps bring a little extra joy to those who may otherwise go without this festive season.
This isn’t the first time Ashworth Grange has supported Dewsbury Cares. Last year, the care home contributed to the group’s Winter Warmer – Fill a Mug Appeal and provided packed lunches for their Summer Blackpool trip. In addition, the Ashworth Grange community are regular supporters of the “Pot Noodle Club”, making interim donations of food and clothing throughout the year.
Donations of jam jars can be dropped off at: Ashworth Grange Care Home, Ashworth Green, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, WF13 2SU.
Kelly Dawson, Front of House Manager at HC-One’s Ashworth Grange Care Home said:
“We’re always proud to support the incredible work of Dewsbury Cares. Our residents and team love getting involved in community projects, especially at Christmas. Every jam jar collected represents a small act of kindness that will help make someone’s day a little brighter.”
